What is your business and what do you do?
My business is Bud Cross Ford. My parents started the family business in 1962. Bud Cross Ford will be celebrating its 55th anniversary in April. We sell and service new and pre-owned vehicles. Bud Cross Ford employs 26 people.
How important is community outreach to your company?
Our family has been a part of the Caldwell community for over 100 years. Staying involved benefits our community and BCF. It is a partnership.
Do you encourage prayer in the workplace?
Yes. We believe in giving thanks to God for all His blessings. When our BCF family hurts, whether in sickness or in the loss of a loved one, we lift them up in prayer. Our employees are free to pray with and for each other.
What do you do, as an individual and as a business, to help the surrounding community?
I served on the hospital board for 20 years. The hospital is vital to the health and welfare of our community. BCF provides scholarships for both public and private schools in Caldwell. By employing high school students, we teach them about work and ethics. This aids them in bettering themselves as well as our community. Ford Motor Company and BCF have promoted Drive One for your School and Drive One for your Community fundraisers. Presently, I am an active deacon at First Baptist Church and I serve on a variety of committees including the First Baptist School Board.
What is your favorite book in the Bible and why?
Romans. Romans lays out the way to become a Christian and accept the greatest gift that God has given us—Jesus.
What challenges have you face while being a Christian in a business setting?
When business is good, sometimes we try to take credit for what we have done instead of acknowledging that God has blessed us. We must keep Him first in our lives and our business. We strive to create a work environment that allows our employees to have a family life instead of working 8-8 six days a week. Encouraging employees to volunteer or be involved in their kid’s activities and programs strengthens families and our community.
