Peace family, what are some of the things that try to steal your peace?
Sometimes, anxiety steals our peace. We try to trust God with our future, but we hold tension in our bodies, we don’t sleep well, and we find ourselves worrying through the worst case scenarios. Whether uncertainty and concerns burden us down because of circumstances in our lives, or in the lives of those we love, it can be very heavy.
Sometimes, anger and pain steal our peace. We have someone in our lives who habitually hurts us, and we don’t know how to protect ourselves. We relive the painful moments, we struggle to forgive them, we finally give it to God, and then these people do or say something new that’s hurtful.
Sometimes, grief steals our peace. We mourn painful losses. We are so troubled that we cannot adequately rest. We wonder how God could have allowed something so terrible and painful to happen to us. We worry that God does not care, and that he will allow worse things to happen to us.
Peace family, today, let’s take a moment to breathe deeply and proclaim the goodness of God. Let’s declare what we are thankful for. Let’s proclaim the trustworthiness of God. Let’s rest in the power of God, and that we can trust his eventual justice. Let’s assure ourselves of the love of God. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7) There are so many things in this world that we don’t understand, but God loves us and has sworn his commitment to us, and that’s something we can trust in! Peace be with you, Peace family!
