Peace family, are you stressed today? Do you have a few minutes to be still and quiet in nature?
Over the weekend, I was dealing with a lot of stress. There were so many projects, so many responsibilities, and so many plans swarming around in my head, that I started to feel pretty overwhelmed!
I asked friends to pray, and I tried to read my Bible, but the stress was oppressive. However, I got some breakthrough when I drove down to my parents’ farm for Father’s Day. I passed rolling, green hills, covered with grass. The sunshine shone through white, fluffy clouds. I passed red and black cows, full and satisfied, and grazing horses. I looked at the large and spreading trees in different shades of green.
You know what, Peace Family? God made all of those things. As I looked away from the highway, across long expanses of land, it helped me to rise out of my panic mode and think about the humongous God who created and maintains all of these things.
Peace Family, if you’re feeling stressed today, can you take some time to look at nature, maybe take a fifteen minute drive or a walk, and think about how great God is, and how much bigger he is than all of our problems?
Nature relieves my soul in a very specific way. The Bible often talks about how mature points us to God, how the thunder and the trees praise him, and Jesus himself said that if we failed to worship God, the rocks themselves would cry out (Luke 19:40.)
Nature is always praising him! Let’s take time to listen, today, Peace Family!
