As Little League season goes into full swing, the City of College Station, College Station Little League and the Brazos Valley Girls Softball Association invite all baseball and softball players ages 7-14 to join the local Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition. The event is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
The local competition will be held on Wednesday, April 5 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Brian Bachmann Community Park, located at 1600 Rock Prairie Rd. Registration is onsite. Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and a parent or guardian to sign the registration form.
Competitors can advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at all 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game on July 11 in Miami, Florida.

Covering the hill with blankets and lawn chairs, music lovers of all walks of life have ventured to Wolf Pen Creek Park since 2002 to enjoy free, family-friendly entertainment under the stars during the Starlight Music Series. This year, we’re bringing back six nights of entertainment and the Voters’ Choice contest.

• May 13: Will Hoge – Solo, with guests Bonnie Bishop & Joey McGee
• May 27: Def Leggend, with guests Infinite Journey & Trio Grande
• June 10: Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws, with guest Kidd Reece & Mo’ Live Zydeco
• June 24: Cory Morrow, with guest Cameran Nelson
Admission is free. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concerts begin at 7. Guests may bring their own refreshments. Coolers must be 48 quarts or smaller. Glass containers, kegs, and pets are not allowed. Concessions will be available for purchase. Smoking is not allowed in the main seating area. There are three designated smoking areas in the facility. Blanket-only seating areas are designated for each concert. Chairs are welcome, but they may not occupy blanket-only seating. Free parking is available at Post Oak Mall, and handicap parking will be located off of Colgate Drive.
WANT TO PLAY AT STARLIGHT? ENTER OUR CONTEST BY APRIL 2.
Musicians or bands over the age of 16 and not signed under a promotional authority/contract can enter the Voters’ Choice contest for the chance to play at Starlight Music Series on May 6. Those interested must submit one song in a MP3 format and a YouTube video of that song being performed by April 2. Up to 10 finalists will be selected by a panel of judges based on song originality, stage presence and creativity. Then it’s up to the public to pick the winners. Public voting will run April 4-15.
The three artists with the most votes win the opportunity to play for up to one hour on stage and the following prizes:
1st Place: $750 and an Artist Development Package by Revive45
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250
