The holiday season is about spending quality time with your loved ones, but not all are so lucky. Thousands of children across Texas will be away from their families and will have to spend the holidays in a new and uncomfortable environment.
Voices for Children, a local non-profit, performs the noble cause of advocating for these abused and neglected children. Voices for Children serves over 200 children in the foster care system spanning Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, and Madison counties.
For a child in this dire situation, having a CASA volunteer can make all the difference. CASAs can provide support, hope, and even a few presents to these children in need. CASAs advocate for what is best for each individual child, giving a level of specified care that the state does not have the resources to provide.
But Voices for Children needs the support of their community, as well. That is why they are reaching out this December through their annual 12 Days of Christmas fundraising campaign. The goal is to raise $12,000 in 12 days. During this holiday season, the 12 Days of Christmas campaign is a great way to give to those in your community who are less fortunate.
Over 85% of Voices for Children’s funding goes directly to CASA kids. The campaign will begin on December 1st and conclude December 12th. Anjuli “AJ” Renold, Executive Director of Voices for Children says, “Any amount helps. No matter the size of your contribution, you are helping to ensure that every child in foster care has a CASA, and that is a very important thing.”
Donations can be made online at vfcbrazos.org or by mailing or dropping off donations at their office at 115 N Main St. Bryan, Tx, 77803. Be sure to follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter December 1-12 to learn more about the work of CASA.
