Peace family, today, I want to share something that I’ve been chewing over in my life, which I hope will encourage you.
As I thought about goals for the new year, one of them was to stop worrying so much. Related to that, I was thinking about how many years I have spent wondering and worrying over God’s plan for my life. There have been many hard things without answers, and experiences to work through. There are a lot of unknowns for my future, and trusting God can be hard! I realized that I have felt frustrated or overwhelmed by what seems like a lack of details or a plan for a long time.
In light of this, I want to use this year to really focus on Who God is, instead of always worrying and asking him what he’s doing, and feeling frustrated when it seems like there aren’t any answers. God is God, and it’s his choice whether or not he will share his thoughts with us, and when he will do it if he does. However, God does promise that when we try to dig deep and get to know him, he will reveal himself to us. The Bible says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13, NASB) Maybe what he has planned won’t matter so much to us, when we feel secure in who he is and trust that he is good.
Peace family, if you’re in a place where you feel frustrated or overwhelmed about your future, please join me this year in making a conscious effort to get to know God better. Read the Bible. Believe, trust, and put it into action. Pray. Talk about God with your faith-filled friends. Have quiet times alone, trying to listen. Serve. Don’t sleep at church. Read devotionals. Instead of just drifting through life, let’s search for God with our whole hearts. I think when we better understand who God is, we will find more peace and joy, regardless of our situations.
