Peace family, when was the last time that you disconnected and got some things done?
Now that August is here, I have a lot of goals I need to work on, including projects that I wanted to finish before the summer was over, places in my home that I need to prepare for the new season, and closets to clean out. Unfortunately I am pretty easy to distract, especially when I am tired. However, I decided to stay off of Facebook for a few days (except for posts that I need to make for work), and I have really been encouraged by how much work I have gotten done!
I also have a hard time staying in shape in the summer. I love ice cream and all kinds of sweets, and I really dislike getting sunburn or being in the heat, which is difficult, since my favorite mode of exercise is jogging! With the beginning of August and the slowing down of commitments that I had last month, I am trying to give some of my focus to exercising more, sleeping better, and eating better. We’re only four days into the new month, but I am already feeling better!
Meanwhile, I’m also examining my heart, trying to focus on learning more about Who God is instead of being distracted by all kinds of random things, and trying to clean things out of my life that I find I am holding against him, or misunderstandings that I have. I am trying to be more conscious to talk more to Him, share how I feel, listen to him, and read the Bible.
There’s no deep spiritual lesson here today, but I just wanted to encourage you that even though it’s hardly New Year’s, the present is always a good time to redirect your focus, especially if you are feeling frazzled and distracted. Take some time to think about what choices might increase your quality of life, and start to do them, today! You can do it.
