Peace family, when was the last time that you really kicked back and just focused on the goodness of God: the goodness of God’s character, but also the specific ways He has blessed you personally?
I have been thinking through some of the different ways that Christians can meet up with God and encounter his love and the identity he gives us in a deeper way. Yesterday, I took some time to just sit back and say “no,” to all of the other things vying for my attention, and I first was really struck by God’s creativity, his beauty (after all, he designed everything on Earth that is beautiful), and even that He is mysterious, wise, and knowledgeable far above my understanding. I am a person who likes answers, so sometimes it’s hard for me to trust, but I know that God is good, and He is trustworthy. I was also struck by the honor that God gave us, by lowering himself to live with us and love us, even though he is so high above us! Not to mention His forgiveness of us, despite our flaws.
I also thought through some of the ways he has provided for me: a comfortable place to sleep, a pantry full of pleasurable and healthy food, a wealth of close, godly friends, and even silly things, such as a new favorite pair of shoes! I could spend hours listing out the good things that God has stuffed into my life.
Peace family, if it’s been a while, maybe you can take a quiet moment today or this weekend to really think about who God is, who you are as his child, and what all he has done for you. I don’t think you will be disappointed!
Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly, neighborhood Kat.
