Peace Family, do you just need a little something extra to celebrate today?
It might not look or feel like fall outside, but autumn is definitely on the way! School and college are back in season, the first Aggie football game is only a few days away, and we have entered into that time when the weather is still hot, but the days are getting shorter, the outdoors become more pleasant, and the fields of hay get more golden. There are still some butterflies, and we can enjoy late summer fruits and vegetables. Over the weekend, I changed the wreath on my front door to a football season wreath, and I changed out the decorations on my entryway table to reflect the late summer and the coming of fall. If I can’t have red leaves outside, I will just enjoy them inside!
No matter what season of the year it is, there is always something to celebrate. Life is like that, too. Whether you are a child, or a college student, a parent, a single, or a senior, there are different challenges and blessings. If you are having trouble seeing some of the blessings in your “season,” take some time today to let God bring to your mind the special things that you can celebrate, even if your life doesn’t look the way that you always hoped or expected. Relish in your favorite parts of each season. Don’t miss the opportunity to rejoice where you are because you are only looking forward to something else. We often quote Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength,” but we don’t usually realize that Paul is talking about being content in all circumstances. The full quote is, “ I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” —Philippians 4:11-13
Peace family, there is always something to celebrate, so let’s make some time to do just that, today! I think you will find that life is more joyful when you take time to celebrate it.
