A couple of weeks ago I posted about my neighbor’s chickens and how in spite of having a wonderful coop and backyard to enjoy they would escape into the front yards and wander? Well…I saw this coming. I am very sad to report that a few days ago the chickens were, once again, out of their coop in the backyard and roaming the neighborhood. My neighbor texted me that she had come home from work to find her chickens deceased in her front yard. This broke my heart!
As with any neighborhood there are dogs that roam from time to time and it happened…some neighborhood dogs got to the chickens. I cried when she told me because it was avoidable. If we could have just found a way to keep them from exploring into dangerous territory they would be alive today. It reminded me of how we are as humans…we are always looking and roaming for something better. Many times it doesn’t exist. If you haven’t read my earlier blog about this please do.
So I felt I owed you an update on the chickens. All I have left are a few eggs my neighbor gave me. They were really good laying hens…but I saw this coming. Rest in Peace, my poultry friends.
