Peace family, I always have so much fun preparing for Christmas. During Advent, the time leading up to Christmas, no matter what else is going on in my life, I love decorating for Christmas in my home, in my yard, and even at the office. I don’t overdo it, but I feel deeply that it’s a visual representation of the joy and comfort that is such an intrinsic part of the holidays and God’s promise to us through his son.
I’ve also been pulling out my seasonal recipes, deciding what to make and with whom to share it. I’ve been thinking about the traditions, movies and songs that help make Christmas special every year in my family, and scheming and dreaming about what gifts would best bless the people whom I love the most.
I especially enjoy including people that I care about in the preparations; I consider it part of the celebration!
To take it a step further, though, today I’ve been considering: how can I be preparing my heart for Christmas?
Peace family, what can we work on in our character to bring us closer to God? What beautiful gifts and fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) do you want to focus on, to decorate your heart for a Christmas that is warm and welcoming to God?
Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly, neighborhood Kat.
