Hi Peace Family! Jami Mayberry here and I want to share with you something I’ve dealt with all my life. Maybe you have too. Here is the simple truth:
“Some people are going to reject you simply because you shine too bright for them. And that’s okay. Keep shining!”
I want to encourage you today to let God’s light shine through you even if you have people around you that think you shine just a little too bright! Don’t be discouraged by them. Let your joy and witness flow from you like a river of water. Jesus even encouraged us to do that in Matthew 5:16 “Even so, let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
I grew up in a fractured and dysfunctional family with very little attention to go around to the children. We competed for everything. That pushed me to excel the best I could in everything from sports to eventually my radio career. But I can tell you, achievements are hollow unless you are a part of something bigger than yourself. Like being a part of God’s Family and praying for Him to use you in other people’s lives. THAT is satisfying. So being in Christian radio is such a blessing to me. I get to encourage you in the Lord and help you on your walk with Him. We each do that in our own way.
Do you know I still get resented and slammed by certain members of my family? Yep…to this day! But as I thought about that I wondered, “Well, then should I be less than God’s called me to be so it won’t threaten other people’s insecurities, even family?” The answer to that is a resounding, “NOOO!!!” Be who God called you to be with the strengths and gifts He gives you. He made you the way you are to accomplish His Will in your life. Don’t feel guilty about that. Be grateful for it and let it bring you joy.
