Hi Peace Family! Jami Mayberry here and I as listened to the rain all night as I slept I thought about how rain is a part of the seasons of our lives. And of each year. Flash Flood Watches are a part of living in Brazos Valley…or South Texas for that matter. It doesn’t make it any more convenient to deal with, but we endure. Why? Because we know that the May flowers are just around the corner. This will make everything so green! It’s part of God’s plan in the cycle of life. What part of the cycle are you in right now? Spring, summer, fall or winter? Each season has it’s challenges and advantages.
I remember when I lived in Southern California for 5 years. I thought I would like it being sunny and 75 year round. In fact, being raised in Texas I was used to experiencing all four seasons. That s how I knew I had lived a full year. I realized the hard way that I missed that. Being in a prolonged, endless summer began to wear me out. It’s like my internal clock was yearning for fall, winter and spring. I felt like that 5 years was the longest summer of my life and I grew restless. It was then I realized I needed to move back to the South. I missed the seasons, among other things.
The seasons of life are that way too. It drew me to my Bible and Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Here is part of it. I hope reading it will assure you that the rain will, indeed, lead to a beautiful season. Enjoy your spring, Peace Family!
Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
1There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
9What do workers gain from their toil? 10I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yeta no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
