Faith & Business with John Allen of Allen Honda

As part of our continuing series focusing on Christian businesses in the Bryan/College Station area, PEACE sat down with John Allen, President and Owner of Allen Honda.

Peace: What is your business and what do you do?
Allen: I am the president and owner of Allen Honda. It is a family business started by my father. My job is to manage the managers to make sure everything runs smoothly. At this business, we sell Hondas in College Station, Bryan, Conroe, and surrounding areas, primarily; but it is important to me to have an outgoing staff that is willing to go out of their way to help each and every customer that walks in the door.

Peace: How do you advertise or brand yourself as a Christian person?
Allen: To a certain extent, I advertise and brand myself and company as Christian. It is no secret I am a Christian, but I might not be as outspoken about it as others. I tend to be soft spoken running my business the best that I can.

Peace: What do you do in your spare time outside of the business?
Allen: I used to be really involved in the community, but my business is doing so well that I haven’t been able to be as involved as I would like. Currently, I am a member of Grace Bible Church, the Anderson campus. I am also actively involved in the Rotary Club of College Station, serving as the Public Relations Director. In the past, I have served on the board for the Chamber of Commerce.

Peace: Do you feel that it is important to tithe the money you earn?
Allen: Yes! I feel that it is a very important part of being a Christian. Luckily, I am in a place to tithe knowing it makes a difference. I am also happy to support missionaries that Grace Bible Church brings in to share the word of our Lord with others in the world.

Peace: How would you advise someone new to the business world who is also a Christian?
Allen: The number one thing is you have to trust God. There is so much competition out there today that you must trust Him. I actually think it is important for more Christians to get involved in business! But just remember to trust in the Lord and ask Him for wisdom. We have been blessed by God to have had the opportunity to be in business with the Honda franchise since 1975. We give credit to our Lord, our employees, and the loyal community that have supported us over the years.
