Peace family, is there anything that you are putting off that you really need to do or say? Today, I want to encourage you that you can do it, and to be faithful, even in the little things! Specifically, I want to encourage you to take the time to really think about how much God loves you, how he has a plan for you, what he might be asking you to do, and how you can love others better.
I guess a lot of things have me thinking about this. We are in the last quarter of the year, and this year has been a hard one for the country; I can’t change the world, but I can change myself and my sphere of influence, and I want to make this year count for good!
For another, at a recent birthday party, my friends told me things that they appreciated about me, and I had no idea that they felt or thought those things. It meant a lot to me, and it made me want to be better about telling people the encouraging things that I think about them, and that they really might need to hear.
Finally, over the weekend, I went on a retreat where I was able to sit in silence and watch the leaves fall from the forest canopy above. I watched the way that the wind blew through the trees, and observed how the sunlight made any spider webs above me shine. I remembered how God takes care of the forest animals, even the smallest of spiders, and it was reassuring that he is taking care of me. I also prayed that God would show me some guidance and direction about several particular situations, including some tasks that I have been putting off. Although I did not feel like he gave me much clarity about the situations I was asking about, I did feel like he emphasized how much he loves and provides for me, and also that He is just calling me to be faithful. There are definitely situations that have been hard, where I have been faithful, but there are also situations where I need to be more faithful to do what God has directed.
Peace family, where are you challenged today? Where can you walk in faithfulness and set out on whatever journeys God has called you to? Let’s you and me both take one step today, even if it’s small. We don’t have to know the full plan; we just have to be faithful one step at a time, and trust that God will let us know what to do next. In the Bible, God says, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you,” and those words are true! So be encouraged.
