Peace family, have you had the chance to try something new and artistic lately? Have you thought about the creativity, knowledge, and artistry that went into it when God designed you?
I had so much fun yesterday taking a machine quilting class! I’ve done some hand quilting, but machine quilting is a totally different animal. As part of the lesson yesterday, I was asked to do a bunch of random designs, stitching whatever shapes popped into my head in order to get a feel for how the machine moves.
As I worked on the quilt, I decided to stitch a few lines from Psalm 139. Working them slowly onto the fabric with the large machine caused me to think more deeply than usual about the words. The part I stitched was verses 1-3, which says, “You have searched me, O Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” Think about those words, and how they apply to you, personally.
I thought about how God really does know each of those things. He knows me and is familiar with all of my odd tastes, habits, and ways! He even knew what designs I would end up making on my quilt, before I knew which designs I would make, and he put even more care into making each of us than I put into the quilts that I make. Surely we can trust God with our lives, even as things come up every day that we don’t expect.
