Peace family, I want to encourage you today that God is doing good things! Pretty much everyone in Texas knows the statement and response, “God is good… All the time! All the time… God is good!” However, Peace Family, it really is true!
Whether things are seriously going wrong in your life, or you just have small sources of stress, we really can trust that God is good and that even the worst things can be used toward his glory and goodness. We also know that he is using those things to bring us, those whom he loves, into greater obedience and a unity with Christ that is more and more like him.
Romans 8:26-29 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”
Yesterday, I had a small reminder of how God works in any situation that He wants. For whatever reason, I had an extremely difficult time getting myself together for the day! I woke up tired, and had trouble getting out of bed, and trouble deciding what to wear. I was already late to church, but as I drank some tea and tried to get my brain ready, a friend of mine who isn’t a believer showed up at my house (she has never showed up at my house on a Sunday morning, so this was highly unusual.) Although it was very unexpected, in the moment, I invited my friend in for tea, and told her that I was running so late this morning, that God must have wanted us to get to hang out. We ended up having a great conversation, and although I missed the big church service, I was still able to make it to my small group on time.
Peace family, our time isn’t our own. Our hardships can serve deeper purposes than we ever expect. God is doing amazing things, even when it looks like we are just late and under pressure. His timing is always right.
If you are feeling today like things are going wrong or delayed, be encouraged, and know that God is moving! He has a good plan, and we can trust him! He is good, all the time!
