Peace 107 wants to honor Dads this Father’s Day weekend and say, “Thanks Dads! We love you and appreciate you!.” Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19th and many times we forget to tell dad how much we appreciate him. This is a perfect time to do it! When you have a father in your life–whether biological, step or a father figure, you have a blessings that helps you the rest of your life. Sometimes dads don’t think they do that much I mean, compared to moms, but you do! Your presence in your child’s life is so important.
I’ve heard dads say, “All I am is the ATM machine…” and many times you are the keeper of the purse strings. But you are so much more than that! You can be a role model for your children just by them watching you. How you handle situations and people. How you make your decisions. How you treat their mom and other women. Being a good dad means different things to different people. My grandfather was the best man in the family…a solid Christian, financially responsible, always putting his family first, humble, smart, kind…and the quietest person in the family. He rarely said two words. But his actions spoke volumes and we loved him so. We KNEW that he loved us in our bones. My point here is you don’t have to talk a lot with your kids to be a good father.
Whatever kind of father you are—the fun and funny dad, the smart dad, the sports dad, the teacher dad, the sentimental dad, the dad-at-the-head-of-the-table dad—you are vital to your family’s well being and vital to your children’s development. They need your love so much. And they need and want your approval. And your time.
Thanks Dad for all that you do and for just being there for us. We love you and honor you this weekend! And even if you get a tie for Father’s Day, there is a lot of love represented in that gift!
