Peace family, as 2015 draws to a close, we stand on the threshold of something wonderful and exciting: a fresh, new year!
If you’re anything like me, this year was a mix of good and bad things in your personal life, while events in America and on the worldwide stage often could be overwhelming. Decisions were made by leaders that caused me great anxiety. The media focused on tension, division, bitterness, and self-righteousness, especially between racial, socioeconomic, and age groups. Political groups worldwide made hate-filled decisions, abused people, and spouted violent rhetoric. It was easy to believe that things were worse or crazier than ever, but you know what? The Bible says that there is nothing new under the sun. It also says that God is still in control!
So, as we look towards 2016 and wonder “what’s behind the door?”, we can take courage in the fact that our God really IS God! No matter what goes on in our country or in the world, there are still people who believe, love and follow Jesus, trying to obey him no matter the cost. And no matter what is going on in your personal life, God is still God there, too!
No matter what heartaches are present, no matter what contentions, no matter what injustices or evils seem to prevail, God is sovereign over all! He hasn’t lost his power. He did not die on the cross and then disappear. Instead, he rose again and is still present in our daily lives, helping, healing, and guiding. He is still the great King of the universe with a wonderful plan that humans are not powerful enough to ruin, even when they try to. Isn’t that good to remember?
So, let’s enter the new year submitted to God and trusting him and where he leads us! He loves us more deeply than we can understand, and he is the ultimate victor. He is in control, he loves you, and he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. From all of us here at Peace 107, we wish you and your loved ones a very happy, victorious, and deeply peaceful new year.
