Hi Peace Family! Jami Mayberry here with a big Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Peace 107! Isn’t it great we have a holiday here in the US that is all about acknowledging all we are thankful for? It’s a wonderful chance for us all to stop and thank God for the people and circumstances and things in our lives that make it so much better. Here’s a family tradition that is fun: go around the table and have each person say what they are thankful for this year. It could be something small or something big. It could be a person or a new home. Each year is full of different circumstances so we always have something new to be grateful for.
It can also be a bittersweet time if it is the first holiday since the passing of a loved one. Of course they come to mind this time of year. But isn’t it wonderful the time you DID have with them? I am so thankful for my Grandmother, Dessie, who helped raise me. She was my rock and the family’s spiritual guidepost. She also made the best dinner rolls (letting them rise 3 times) that I have ever eaten. She would make them every Thanksgiving. To this day she is my favorite person that I have ever known. She passed away in 1995. I miss her everyday, but especially during the holidays. But I am so, so grateful that God let me know her and let her be such a guide to Him in my life. I don’t know where I would be without her and her influence. So, I have a heart full of gratitude this season. Even if she isn’t here physically she sure cast a long, loving shadow on my life.
So go around the table this year and have every one say what they are thankful for this year. It opens everyone’s heart. And then it’s time to dig in and eat. Savor your family and friends this year. You are blessed!
