Hi Peace family, it’s Brian Christopher from the Peace 107 morning show. I want to share with you what’s happened to my wife and me over the past 12+ months.
Please note: There are pictures included in this story that are graphic.
In July of last year, my wife came home one day from work and said that her legs felt ‘heavy’. She said they didn’t hurt, but she was having trouble walking. A few days later, she noticed her legs were a bit swollen and felt hard to the touch. This began the process of trying to diagnose what was happening. We had to go to a few doctors before we learned she was having serious vascular issues in both legs from the knees down. By the time we learned what was happening, her left foot had a small wound on the heel, but it was her right foot that quickly deteriorated. Blisters became sores, and then began to open as serious wounds. By mid-August, she was having trouble walking, and the pain had begun to set in. Her right foot was coming apart quickly, and we were having trouble finding someone who could help.
In October of 2025, my wife underwent a few procedures, but they didn’t seem to be helping. The wounds on her right foot were very bad, and by this time she was suffering from excruciating nerve pain. She’d often be awake most of the night, waiting for the pain to subside. The constant pain and sleep deprivation began to take over, and there was talk of possible amputation of her foot, and even part of her right leg. By November, she could no longer walk and had to take a leave of absence from work.
The pain became worse, and we just couldn’t seem to find someone to help fix what was wrong. On Monday, January 5th, of this year, Wound Care of College Station told us that she needed to be admitted to the hospital. Her right foot was in terrible condition; there was a large hole in the top of her foot, and the tendons were visible. We went to St. Joseph’s, and the ER Doctor told us she needed a specialist. He began looking and found a doctor in Houston who worked on cases just like this. That night my wife was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s in Houston, and I came down the next morning to spend the week with her in her room. (This was the second of what would eventually be four week-long hospital stays.)
On Wednesday morning, January 7th, I was sleeping in the recliner next to my wife’s bed. I woke up around 3am and saw her sitting up in bed, rocking back and forth. Her foot was on fire, and the pain wouldn’t subside. I prayed with her for a bit, then she told me to go back to sleep, so I’d be rested to talk with the doctors later that morning. I awoke again shortly before 5am, and my wife was still awake and still in horrible pain. At 5am a nurse came in to bring medication, and when she left a few minutes later, my wife finally cratered. She’d hit rock bottom. Months of debilitating pain and sleep deprivation had taken their toll. She could go no farther.
Peace family, as my wife began to sob and cry out to God for help, something amazing and wonderful happened in that hospital room. The following is the text message I sent out to family and friends later that morning:
——-
“We had quite an experience last night. About three AM, Diana woke up in excruciating pain. I got up and stayed awake for a while, praying for her. Then, at five, the nurse came with some pain meds. When the nurse left, Diana completely broke down; she was in so much pain. She said she just couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t take any more pain. She cried and cried, and kept crying out to God to help her, begging Jesus to stop the pain. I was sitting in a chair by the right side of her bed, holding her hand and praying. About ten minutes into praying, I asked God to fill Diana with the Holy Spirit, just to let her know He was here. Her arm began to shake, then her whole body trembled. At the exact moment that happened to her, I felt everything draining out of me. I had no thoughts, no stress, nothing but an open mind. I had my eyes closed and was squeezing her right hand. I suddenly felt a presence standing to my right. A powerful presence. I never opened my eyes, sort of like Indiana Jones knew not to look at the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I didn’t look, but suddenly, because my mind was clear, I SAW everything. I told Diana, “Jesus is here.” She felt it, too. I saw Him reach down and put His left hand on top of her bandaged right foot. Just as I saw Him do that, she let out a loud moan. I told her, “He has his hand on your foot.” She was crying and said she could feel it. I still hadn’t opened my eyes, but I saw Him look from her foot to her face. I told her, “Now he’s looking at you.” Then I said four words I’ll never forget: “He has kind eyes.” Diana was crying and still in great pain, but she said, “I can feel the blood flowing.” Then I saw Him look back at her foot, and this time he also put his right hand under her foot. I told Diana, “He has both hands wrapped around your foot now.” He stayed like that for a couple of minutes, looking slowly back and forth from her foot to her face. I could see all of this clearly, even though I’d never opened my eyes. After about two minutes, he took His left hand and gently placed it on my upper back. Shortly after, I felt His presence leave. For the first time, I opened my eyes. The room was dark, and it was just the two of us. We KNEW Jesus had been there.I don’t know if there was healing, or if He was just letting Diana know she’s not forgotten. Either way, it helped us both tremendously.”
——-
Jesus heard my wife’s cries, and He showed up in a Houston hospital room, on the 21st floor, to hold her wounded foot. He hears your cries, too.
This was a life-changing experience for both of us. We didn’t know if there had been a miraculous healing, or if she’d received a ‘healing touch’, meaning healing would come, but in God’s time. Later that afternoon, the doctors came in to unwrap her foot and check the wound. I didn’t know what I’d see! When the bandages came off, the terrible wounds were still there. However, for the first time in months, the swelling was gone! Her foot had a normal shape again.
Peace family, this has been a long journey for my wife, and for me. It’s so hard to see someone you love in such pain, but our faith is strong, and we trust Jesus. We’ve had some setbacks since that January experience in the Houston hospital room, but slowly and surely the healing has come. My wife can walk again, and she’s back to work. Best of all, the pain is now gone, and there are no amputations. The doctors had to take out a couple of small tendons, but her foot is almost completely healed now.
There’s another amazing part of this story I want to tell you, but first, here are some pictures that’ll show what my wife went through. Please note that they are graphic.

Let’s move ahead now to March of this year. My morning partner, Annie Nance (she retired at the end of February), texted me a link to a podcast about The Shroud of Turin. She knows I’m fascinated by the shroud and the mystery surrounding it. If you’re not familiar with this, the shroud contains the image of a crucified man that many people believe to be Jesus himself. The argument has gone back and forth for many, many years about whether the shroud is authentic. Two North Texas pastors – Josh Howerton and Carlos Erazo – were hosting this podcast, and their guest was Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, an expert in crucifixion and the Shroud of Turin. The podcast was fascinating, but at about the 65-minute mark, Dr. Johnston mentioned a friend of his who’d tried to create an AI image of the man’s face seen on the shroud. (NOTE: The face seen on the shroud is of a man who’s been severely beaten and wounded. The AI image attempted to create a facial image without wounds.) When the AI-created face popped up on the screen, I almost fell off my chair. THIS WAS THE FACE OF THE MAN I’D SEEN STANDING NEXT TO ME IN THAT HOSPITAL ROOM! The AI couldn’t quite capture the kindness I saw in His eyes, but this was the man. I saw Him place His hands on my wife’s wounded foot; I saw His face, and I felt His touch on my back. Here’s a screengrab from that podcast:

Peace family, I hope the story of my wife’s road to healing has encouraged you. Whatever it is you’re facing, whether it’s the need for physical healing, heartbreak, grief, relationship problems – whatever it is, give it to Jesus. Trust Him to bring the healing. He’s promised to never leave or forsake you, and He doesn’t break promises. Jesus gave my wife a healing touch, and He used doctors (especially Dr. Jorge Miranda) and our faith to complete that healing.
This verse helped my wife and me immensely during the past year:
Matthew 21:22…“If you believe, you will receive, whatever you ask for in prayer.”
God bless you, Peace family.
Brian
p.s. Peace family, I had the opportunity to share my story with my friend, Pastor Brian Hallam, on his podcast. Brian Hallam is the pastor at New Heights Church in College Station. Here’s the link to the podcast.
