Navigating Holiday Grief

Peace family, the holidays can be very difficult when we’re grieving. Chaplain Gary Roe with Hospice Brazos Valley is joining us again this Christmas season with a series of tips for navigating the holidays when you’re hurting. There are a lot of expectations for everything to be calm, bright, and happy this time of year, and those expectations can compound the pain we already feel about our losses by making us feel guilty.

Gary says two things he wishes that everyone who’s grieving could hear are: 1) You aren’t crazy. Something crazy has happened, and it is okay to grieve. 2) You are not alone, and you would be surprised to know how many other people are also struggling their way through grief.

Peace family, hang in there, and let others love on you for a while. Gary is always available for emails, and there are many free resources on his website.

Peace family, I love you and I am proud of you if you are working through this. As Gary often says, these holidays might be different and difficult, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t still be good.
