Have you noticed that our fall temperatures haven’t fallen yet? As I was walking across the parking lot headed to our office a passerby said, “It’s too hot for October!” And I wholeheartedly agreed with him. Mid 90s in October? It does seem that summer has lingered a little longer than usual this year.
Many of us are waiting for the chance to pull on our sweaters, drink hot chocolate, light up the fireplace or, as Aggies do, have a bonfire! Doesn’t it seem odd to be at an Aggie game in the bright sun in 90 degree weather? Some have liked it and some have not. What category do you fall into? Well, whichever one it is, there is not much we can do about it.
It reminds me of how our plans are not God’s plans and His ways are higher than our ways. (Isaiah 55:8)
Maybe it’s a sign we’ll have a mild winter here in southern Texas. If so, that would be great news for many plant and outdoor lovers. So let us continue to wear our sandals and flip flops well into October! It does seem out of season to have our kids in school, great Texas football games going on and the hot temperatures happening at the same time. That’s what makes life interesting. We really aren’t in control and every year is different. We’ll all remember that time in 2015 when it was in the 90s into mid-October.
We will also remember how good God is and how blessed we are. Grateful for life and everything in it.
