Peace family, have you ever had a day like the one I’m having today?
With Thanksgiving in a few days, it’s so hard to be at work and try to focus. I keep thinking of delicious, festive foods to cook and prepare, movies I want to watch with my family, where I want to put my Christmas tree, and the best way to get crispy skin on a turkey. It’s getting colder outside, and I just want to be at home, cooking, decorating, or napping! Can I get an Amen?
The feeling is very similar to childhood family road trips. The drive and hours stretched on and on; for my family, the drive to my Grandmother’s log cabin home took at least two days. So many hours were spent sitting in the car, stiff, trying to entertain yourself, and wishing you were there already! However, once you were finally there, it was one of the best experiences of the year, and totally worth it!
I think I’d like my hope towards Heaven to be more like my expectation of the holidays. I often long deeply for Christ’s return and Heaven as I mourn injustice, suffering, and things that seem like the triumph of evil, but I don’t usually think about the goodness of just being with God and really knowing him better, and the things about him that I am so thankful for. I want my expectation of Heaven to be more joyful, and I want to be better at making good use of my time while I wait! I want to be positive and not lose heart, loving people well and remembering the goodness of his victory!
Peace family, let’s hang in there and finish strong at work this week! We can still honor God and be focused on him as we work up to the holidays. You can make it through this week! Let’s you and me both just pray for grace, and take care of the business that’s been allotted to us! Hope you have a fantastic day today!
