Peace Family we are definitely into fall and all the beautiful colors that come with it! Have you noticed all the pumpkins of all types and gourds in the supermarkets and stores? I love the colors of fall. God’s handiwork is all over the season of autumn. Living in Brazos Valley affords us the chance to miss the heavy snows other parts of the country and state get, but we still get to see some of the colors and I am so grateful to God.
I just put mums out in my front yard in a deep red color. Other varieties are burnt orange, dark dusky yellow and even some white. They are beautiful this year and I am reminded of God’s goodness in providing foods for us in different seasons and times of the year. Pomegranates are in the stores and I never miss the chance to buy one. My mother used to buy them as special treats for us kids when we were growing up. I have my own way of peeling and eating these that comes from years of experience. What fall treat do you remember from childhood? Have you started any in your own family?
Even though as Christians we don’t celebrate Halloween, there are still ways to have fun with your kids during this season. So many schools and churches have Fall Festivals and Fairs. And it is fair season here in Brazos County too! There are plenty of opportunities for kids to dress up and have fun without turning it into something evil. I hope you and your family will enjoy October and all it has to offer.
So retake this season for your family. Turn it into something positive and fun. You can even carve a pumpkin or two. Or roast and salt the seeds in the oven. Or make a pie together as a learning moment.
Enjoy this year’s pumpkin season, Peace Family!
