Peace family, do you want more joy in your life? I certainly do, and today, I was challenged by the Bible to live more joyfully!
I was reading Psalm 135, which begins, “Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord, who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!” The psalmist goes on to praise God for the weather he gives us, for the miracles that he did when the Israelites were rescued out of slavery in Egypt, for his name and renown, and even just for being a real God who can speak, see, and hear, unlike the gold and silver idols we often worship.
I’ve heard a lot about general thankfulness being a conduit for joy, but it’s not very often that I take time to specifically thank God for who He is, and tell Him why he is so great. There’s a lot more to praise and worship than a Sunday morning church band. We can sing, we can dance, we can paint, we can plant, we can cook, we can coach, we can write, we can run, all for the glory of God, but let’s you and me both take a little time today to specifically tell God why he matters to us. I don’t think we’ll regret it!
I know today I want to praise God for all that He has done in my life. He has been such a good provider, financially and emotionally, throughout my life. He has helped me to heal from deep physical and emotional wounds. He is so imaginative and has made so many different kinds of beautiful foods, flowers, and people. His truthfulness is unwavering, no matter how much confusion and deception flows around us, and he keeps his promises. He is loyal, he says what he means, and he means what he says. He truly knows me, and he always understands. He has done miracles in my life, and in the lives of those dear to me. These are only a few reasons why God is the Best.
Peace family, what can you praise God for today?
