Made in God’s Image

Peace family, today, we just wanted to encourage you that you are made in God’s image.

This summer, there has been a lot of unrest and violence, with acts of fear and hatred becoming more and more common. So many people have forgotten that other people are made in God’s image. It’s important to grieve, but we must also choose to trust God, to obey him, and to not lose hope for the future. We can’t allow fear to become the defining characteristic of our lives. We have to remember that even as darkness is moving and spreading, God is always more powerful.

Are you feeling hated, afraid, abandoned, devalued, or misunderstood because of your brown skin? Are you feeling hated, afraid, abandoned, devalued or misunderstood because of your pink skin? No matter how others treat you, or how others treat people who look like you, that is not your identity. That is not your value, especially if you are being treated unjustly, but it’s still true, even when you are being treated well. Yes, there are things to do to make things better in our country, but in the meantime, I want you to remember, Peace Family- YOU are made in the image of God. You are loved with an undying love. You are cherished. You are uniquely made, with no one else exactly like you in all of the history of humanity. God wanted a soul just like you in this world, at a time just like this. God sees you, He knows your thoughts, He knows even the darkest parts of your heart, and he loves you. He hasn’t forgotten you; He is even less capable of forgetting you than a mother who has a nursing child can forget her baby. God’s opinion of you is so much truer than any human opinion of you, even mine. We love you and value you, but God loves you so much more and better than I can.

May God break off our spirit of fear, confusion, blindness, and despair. May you have hope for tomorrow, dear, precious friend. Make time for some of your favorite things this week, the things that bring life into your soul. Remember who you are; you are someone worth loving day to day, and you are someone worth dying for.
