It’s the unofficial beginning of summer and a great time to get together with family and friends…Memorial Day Weekend! But this Memorial Day Weekend I hope you can stop, remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. That’s why we get this wonderful three day weekend each year at the end of May…to remember and honor our fallen military heroes.
As the home of Texas A&M University, Bryan/College Station is a very patriotic place to live. Our community builds amazing men and women who will go on to be officers and leaders. How blessed we are! I am so grateful that we live in a country that is free and we enjoy the freedoms that we do. This weekend I am reminded that freedom doesn’t come free. There is a price to pay and many pay with their very lives. It’s those we honor this weekend.
If you are a Gold Star Parent our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Gold Star Parents are those that have lost a child in the service of their country. I have known several and it is not a club you want to be in. Thank you for your sacrifice. We truly do appreciate it as Americans.
So travel, see family and friends, cook out, go to the lake, and have a big cookout and enjoy this weekend! But also remember why we celebrate it at all. Their lives mattered.
