Peace family, reading is such a special part of childhood for so many of us. How would you like the chance to help make books available to local kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity to read at home?
Books and a Blanket was started by two local girls, sisters Harper and Maggie, who both really love to read and wanted other children to be able to read over Christmas break. Each year, they collect blankets, crates, new books, and gently used books in order to make little mobile libraries for their peers.
Each care basket has a blanket or quilt and fifteen books, focusing on books for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Blankets can be bought or homemade, and this year, the girls are trying to put together 988 crates!
If you have books, blankets, or crates to donate, bring them to our Bryan Broadcasting office (on the fifth floor of Crystal Park Plaza, located at 2700 Earl Rudder Freeway.) You can also make an online monetary donation or learn more by CLICKING HERE.
I still remember my favorite books from when I was a child. Here’s to making precious memories for other children!
