Peace family, November is National Adoption month!
As someone with members of my family who are both adopted nationally and internationally, and someone who has considered fostering and adopting children for myself from a very young age, this beautiful process of putting kids into families, just like God adopted us, really touches my heart.
How familiar are you with the processes of adoption and fostering? How equipped are you to support families who foster and adopt around you, or to take the plunge yourself?
Peace family, we have multiple adoption-encouraging groups in our own community, and there are many ways to get involved! Whether praying for others, supporting financially, or baby-sitting so that parents can have a night out, there are so many ways that we can support those who have chosen a lifestyle upholding pro-life principles, who are living that directly by “placing the orphans in families,” a clear desire of God (Psalm 68:6). The Brazos Valley is a wonderful place to live, because we have so many different resources in regards to adoption!
At Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach, you can find more information about adoption by clicking HERE, or copying and pasting this link into your browser: http://pregnancyoutreach.org/adoption-bravery/. Meanwhile, you can enjoy a delicious pulled pork sandwich, french fries, and non-alcoholic drink at Texas Roadhouse for one of APO’s largest annual fundraisers on Thursday, December 1, from 11-1.
If you are interested in adoption, Hope Pregnancy Center suggests contacting Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach, Christian Homes and Family Services, Children’s Connection, and New Life Adoption. Another group that advocates for adoption, is The Coalition For Life, who just wrapped up their “40 Days For Life” annual prayer and fasting campaign; click HERE to visit their website.
Meanwhile, you can find a free, downloadable guide for more information about adoption and supporting those who adopt from Focus on the Family, by clicking HERE.
Peace family, again, being an advocate for the “orphan,” can look like many different things across different people’s lives. Let’s you and me both take time this month to pray about how we can be a part of supporting this precious people group, and be encouraged!
