“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
That’s a quote from one of my favorite speeches, given by Sir Winston Churchill. Although I don’t fight Nazis on a regular basis, I have found inspiration from that speech for many times when I was down and out.
It’s funny how God can use normal things to inspire and encourage us, and that’s how I want to encourage you today. Do you feel like you are pressed on every side by foes? We do need to give up on ourselves and our own ability to try to fix everything, but in giving up, we can hand everything over to God. He can handle it so much better than we ever could. God is the ultimate victor, and marching under his banner and authority makes the battle worth it. Our peace, relationship, and future with Him is worth fighting for.
It makes me think of the scene in Lord of the Rings where the tiny hobbits have little hope of surviving the battle, but then Gandalf rides in triumphantly over the hill to the rescue with new soldiers.
Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly neighborhood Kat.
