Peace family, we’ve reached the end of January! How are things going with your resolutions?
One of Brian’s favorite quotes is, “A goal without a plan is only a wish,” which ought to encourage us to make a specific plan in order to help achieve our goal. We might say, “I want to lose weight,” but without a plan to work towards the goal, it is very unlikely that we will meet it.
It also can be so easy to feel like if we aren’t where we wanted to be by the end of January, then we might as well give up. However, every day is a new chance to try again, whether your goals are physical, spiritual, intellectual, financial, or relational.
This is something that I love about the Christian walk; as believers, we don’t have to wait until a new year to start over. God is continually making all things new, and that includes us. The old is gone, behold, the new has come (II Corinthians 5:17), and he is working newness into our lives to make us more like Jesus. We are told to forget what is behind and move forwards (Philippians 3:13).
Peace family, if you are in a place of failure today, focus on God, who he says he is, his desires, and who he says you are. Be encouraged, and don’t give up. Every day is a new beginning.
