New Book to Help Child Slaves

October 23, 2014 by wpengine

Under the Mango Tree

Peace family, there’s a new opportunity in town to help support an organization that rescues child slaves in Africa.

Mercy Project Executive Director Chris Field says they’ve just written and published a children’s book called Under the Mango Tree, which explains the ministry in a way that doesn’t scare kids and inspires them to help others.

Field says Mercy Project specifically works with fishermen in Ghana, rescuing children who have been sold by their families to work on fishing boats. He says they teach fishermen, most of whom were child slaves themselves, better methods of fishing and aquaculture so that they don’t need child slaves anymore and give them back to their families out of their own volition. He says it’s a cycle that can last for generations, so they are making a lasting impact and opening the doors for other kinds of ministry in those villages.

Field says Mercy Project appreciates your prayers, and they are always looking for churches and organizations where they can speak and share their story. If you’d like to get involved, you can find more information at www.mercyproject.net

Simply buying a book can make a difference, too. You can order one for your family at: www.underthemangotreebook.com

I can’t wait to get my own copy! 馃檪 Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly, neighborhood Kat.
