Jami was born and raised in Amarillo, Tx, and got her start in radio as a freshman at Texas A&M University. After stints in Oklahoma City and Southern California she settled in Nashville, Tn for the last 23 years. She dreamed of coming back to Texas and that dream is realized in 2013 by joining the staff at Peace 107. She is a Stage III cancer survivor who sees every day as a gift. Jami volunteers through several cancer organizations to talk to other women diagnosed with her kind of rare gynecological cancer.
Her favorite quote is, “To know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived, that is a success.” Thanks Ralph Waldo Emerson!
After being single for many years and concentrating on her career, God did something quite unexpected. A lifelong friend suggested a friendship/date with a widower and that eventually led to their marriage in 2021. Mark Benton has been the biggest blessing in her life.
A verse that God has woven through her life over and over again is Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Thoughts of welfare and not of calamity. To give you a future and a hope.”
When not in the Peace studio, Jami is the Music Director for our sister station Willy 97.7 FM, and does 10 to 2 pm on the air. Her passions include her faith, travel with her husband, gardening, and decorating her new home. She has many life-long friendships and loves meeting new people too.
