Peace family, do you ever have times in your life where it just seems like thing after thing is going wrong? Maybe someone rear-ended your car, your dog got sick, your washing machine or oven broke, things at work aren’t what you wish they’d be, you keep misplacing your keys or cell phone, and one of your kids is stressing out over a test or problem with a friend. We can usually deal pretty well with minor stresses and inconveniences, but it gets kind of tough when it seems like multiple things are spinning out of control all at once.
I’ve had a number of things go wrong lately; they’re not huge problems, but they are big enough that my schedule is altered, I have to plan ahead much more extensively, I have to depend on others for things I could usually take care of myself, and I can’t do everything that I want to do when I want to do it. However, these problems have been a good reminder to take a deep breath and consider that God wants to stretch me in the patience department, and possibly several other areas of my character!
Peace family, these times are some of the best times to take a deep breath, thank God that He is in control of the universe, and thank Him for the good things in our lives, despite our problems. If you are feeling like I am, take a minute, maybe make yourself a hot cup of tea, and think to yourself, “What can I thank God for despite this situation? What can I learn about God and about obeying Christ in this situation?”
I’d encourage you to write it down in your journal, so that you can look back at God’s faithfulness the next time you are in a kind of frustrating season! Hang in there, and remember that you are a blessed child of God! He will not abandon you.
