Picnic at the Playground!

August 14, 2015 by wpengine

Picnic at the Playground

Peace family, Saturday, August 15, your family can have a play day and lunch for a great cause at the Picnic at the Playground! It’s a groundbreaking celebration and fundraiser to build a Fun For All Playground, an outdoor recreational area for children and adults with special needs.

Brian and Kat spoke with Lisa Aldrich, and she said that families with special needs are excited, but local veterans are excited, too! She says the “playground” will have areas with special sensory or tactile experiences. It has been developed for children with physical and mental developmental problems, but also to help adults such as stroke victims and those suffering with PTSD. The therapeutic area is designed for “all” to relax, have fun, and encourage healing in brain pathways that have been disrupted by trauma.

Everyone’s invited to a fundraiser lunch at Stephen C. Beachy Park! The groundbreaking begins at 10 a.m., with activities lasting through 2 p.m. The fun includes bounce houses, games, a petting zoo and music provided by the Fabulous 8-Trax. Lunch is $10, provided by Buppy’s catering, Boots Beverages and Kristen Distributing Company, with the money going towards the future playground.

RSVP by calling 979-777-0146, or buying tickets at the College Station Parks and Recreation Department or Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry.

Stephen C. Beachy Central Park is located at 1000 Krenek Tap Road.
