Peace Family, we hope you had a restful, fun and meaningful Christmas, and that your load is light as everyone heads back to business as usual while trying to transition into the new year! If your Christmas was hard, whether because of loss or brokenness in your family, there is grace, and God is still good! A fresh, new year is just around the corner.
This last week of the year can be a pretty interesting time. Some people are ready to sort and put away all of the Christmas decorations, while others, like me, are still trying to deliver Christmas presents that are late, write thank you cards, and clean the house out in order to start the new year off on a good foot. Some of us take gifts back to the store, some of us pick through the bargain-priced Christmas items, and many of us wish we had eaten less sugar and fat!
Peace family, take some time this week to think not only about your goals for next year, but also your successes from this past year. At least for me, sometimes it can be pretty easy to rush headlong into the next set of goals, without taking adequate time to celebrate (or even appreciate) what’s actually been accomplished. Even if you didn’t fully accomplish your goals this year, doing a little bit of something is better than doing nothing! If you started your goals, if you lasted through March, if you bought or gathered the resources to at least work towards your goals- well, don’t give up!
Meanwhile, now is a great time to start making your next goals more specific, share your goals with others for accountability, write your goals into your schedule, and prepare. Thank God for all of the things that he has helped you to accomplish this year, and ask what He might like from you next year. You might be surprised by what He says!
