Peace family, do rainy days make you feel blue?
I was thinking this morning about how rainy days can make you wish for sunnier ones, but there are unique qualities that make a rainy day special in its own way.
There is something sleep-inducing about a rainy day. The rain restores all the plants outside and gives our yards a fresh start at survival. It cleans our windows, and many times, forces us to rest because it’s harder to get out and take care of business we were planning to do outside.
There are also certain delights that are more meaningful on rainy days, such as a cup of hot tea in your favorite mug, your favorite sweats or fuzzy pajama pants, a cozy blanket that reminds you of someone who loves you, a bowl of steaming beef stew, a pair of silly socks that keep your toes warm, reading a book or watching a movie that’s like an old friend, maybe even an indoor picnic on the living room floor… there are so many things to enjoy! What’s your favorite part of a rainy day? And what’s something you can do to make today special?
We can have rainy days in our souls, too, but God uses them to his glory. I think those “rainy” days help us find eventual restoration and growth as well. However you feel on this rainy day, I want you to know that God loves you, and He is up to good things, always protecting and persevering, and never failing.
Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly, neighborhood Kat.
