Peace Family, in my personal life, I have several friends who are going through times of pretty deep suffering, and they are being challenged in their trust of God. If you are in the same boat, I want to reassure you that no matter how undeserved, illogical, or cruel your suffering might be, God still can and will redeem it.
God can bring something beautiful, wise and peaceful out of the seeming pointlessness of your suffering, one day. It’s okay if today is not that day. It’s okay to question, and hurt, and even if we hurt for a very long time, that doesn’t mean that we will suffer forever.
I know with times of deep suffering in my own life, I usually only gain perspective of the good that God is doing, despite the bad situation, a little bit at a time, and somewhat sporadically. I still might have days that my suffering feels absolutely purposeless, and I will struggle with feeling unprotected, damaged, and disappointed that God has not prevented bad things from happening to me that I didn’t deserve. Deep, deep down though, I know that God is still God, and things will be rearranged for his glory as I submit to him.
Peace family, remember that no matter how you feel today or any day, God says, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). Let the truths of the Bible serve as a preservative in your life, and remember that “blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:3).
