Peace Family do you ever find yourself stressed and thinking that you’ve reached the end of your coping skills? I have been there many times! It happens to us all. While prayer and reading God’s Word are the way you will find your ultimate answers, there are a few practical things that help too!
A wise man once said that a hot shower or bath and a good night’s sleep will go miles to help any situation. Think about it. If you are stressed ask yourself, “Have I gotten enough sleep in the last few days?” That directly influences your ability to cope. Things that don’t normally bug you could drive you crazy if you are tired anyway. Sometimes it comes down to a simple night of rest. A good eight hours of deep, REM sleep. Try it.
Another thing that has helped me so much is to take a shower or bath. I’m serious! When I am in a bad mood or stressed from the day’s happenings and concerns I tell myself to go take a shower…wash those troubled thoughts away. A bath sometimes is even better. It sounds like such a simple thing but it can have a profound effect on your disposition.
Here’s the perfect combination: take a shower and sing praise songs or quote your favorite Bible verses out loud. I can’t tell you how many times my heart has been lifted and encouraged by taking a long bath and singing praise choruses. Sometimes I cry. I get out refreshed and ready to face whatever is ahead of me.
