Peace family, when was the last time that you set aside time to be intentionally encouraged in Christ?
Sometimes, feeling lonely can be a wake up call to spend time with God. Feeling blue can be a chance to talk to him about what we’re going through. Feeling cross can be an opportunity to examine what might be hurting or troubling us, or ways that our lives aren’t in line with what God wants.
We can spend time in the Bible, but if we don’t feel like reading, we can listen to praise songs, or even spend a little time in nature and really think about him and all that he has done. Another thing I like to do, is to watch a movie that I know has touched me in the past and will strengthen my faith, such as Risen, End of the Spear, or even Chariots of Fire.
We all go through dry seasons sometimes, or get stuck in ruts. We all have difficult situations and people around us. If we aren’t taking time to be encouraged in our faith, then we can quickly feel crushed by everything around us.
Peace family, remember that in Christ, you are pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed (see II Corinthians 4:8-9.) Let’s both take some time today and focus on God, and how much he loves us, and the freedom and victory that we have in him. Let’s allow ourselves to be filled with him. Let’s remember that he is better and more powerful than every hard or bad thing around us. Let’s take time for encouragement!
