Peace family, what are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for so many things: thankful that I am physically able to mow my own lawn, thankful that I have so many helpful friends who can give me good advice when I find a leak in an outdoor pipe and don’t know where to turn it off, thankful for old friends from college who still feel close enough to me to ask to stay in my guest bedroom, thankful that the orchids in my breakfast nook are blooming, and thankful that my cousin is getting married this weekend!
My cousin and I have always been close. We are six months apart in age, and there was a time in high school that she moved in with my family, into an old farmhouse. Not only that, but I didn’t have a bedroom (my brothers shared one), and she and I shared a fold-out couch bed in the living room. She’s like a sister to me, and we have been through a lot together.
Since growing up and living in different states, we haven’t gotten to see each other very much, but it’s always good to see her. We share so many jokes and memories, and I am so happy to be part of her wedding this weekend! She lives in a full house, and as I help out, we will be sharing a bed again. Maybe it’s not that big of a deal to someone with sisters, but to me, with only brothers, it seems very special. I am so thankful for this opportunity to spend her last few nights as a single with her, praying for her and helping her with preparations.
Peace family, what are you thankful for today? It doesn’t have to be something that anyone else would be thankful for! Just let God know that you appreciate him for the special things that make up your life.
