Peace family, do you ever have those beautiful, simple moments that make you think, “Wow, now this is the kind of thing that makes life sweet”?
I had a moment of simple joy over the weekend. I was giving a ride to my neighbor’s ten-year-old daughter, and to my surprise, when I turned on the radio, she knew every word of the songs on Peace 107. She had been pretty quiet before that, so we both sang along a little bit quietly at first, but when Mandisa’s “Overcomer” came on, we both sang loudly, and it was so much fun!
What a sweet opportunity to experience the simple joy and power of the Lord, and to be with another sister in Christ, no matter our differences in age, size, or appearance! It probably sounds silly to parents that I’m making such a big deal about it, but I was really struck by the precious nature of that moment.
It makes me think about the small opportunities we have every day to praise God with our full hearts in and through whatever we are doing. It makes me want to take notice and praise God any time that I can. It also really strikes me with the pleasure that God must feel when we sing our hearts to him. If I can be moved by listening to my neighbor’s daughter, how much more does God love it when we, his children, sing to him?
Anyway, just a few thoughts from your friendly, neighborhood Kat.
