Peace Family have you traveled very much around this great country we live in? How about to other countries? I want to encourage you to travel if you can. It is amazing to see other cultures, eat different foods and see different ways of life. You know what else it does? It makes you love HOME even more!
I have 2 friends who have just returned from trips to New York City and their stories are remarkable. NYC is a city full of energy and is called ‘the crossroads of the world’. I personally have been twice and each time was an eye opener. I remember standing on a street corner waiting for the light to cross and hearing 3 different languages being spoken in conversations around me. I also remember how aggressive the cab drivers were and how much shouting and cussing went on in the streets and between people. My first thought was, “I’m not in the South anymore. People in the South would NEVER talk to each other that way!” And it made me proud to be from the South.
I have a co-worker who just returned from visiting the Holy Lands with a glow on her face. Truly inspiring. Have you ever traveled outside the USA? It will make you look at being an American citizen in a whole new light! What an honor it is to be born and live in the greatest country in the world! When I traveled internationally the first time I remember feeling that I had walked across a bridge that I would never uncross again. I had a better view of the world and how as people we are all the same.
So if you are looking for some great experiences I suggest you travel. It strips away all the routine and culture around you and you get to know who you really are underneath it all. It also brought me closer to God and my faith grew from being so far from home. That’s the great thing…no matter how far you go, Jesus is with you and you are not alone.
