Peace family, it can be so easy to feel overwhelmed when tragedies happen.
There have been so many lately, and even the way that the world reacts after tragedies can be so wrong and overwhelming, that the tragedies are concentrated. I know that my personal attitude is often one of despair, throwing up my hands and saying, “God, what’s the point? No one obeys or believes in you anymore. I might as well go live out the end of my days in a cave and die.” However, not only is that the wrong attitude to have, but it isn’t true. There are people who love God and obey him all over the earth, even in countries where they are jailed, tortured, and murdered. They haven’t given up, and we shouldn’t, either. We can have hope and look to the Lord, where our strength comes from.
When these things happen, we can’t always “do something,” but we can pray. People can’t always receive our blood donations, or our finances, or a physical hug from our bodies, but we can pray. We can love those near us, we can choose not to sew discord, and we can choose not to despair. We can choose to trust that evil will not win, and God will prevail, and not lose hope for our lives or the good that we are called to do.
So keep your eyes up today, Peace family. God loves you, He is with you, and He is where our help comes from.
