Peace family, something I have been thinking about for a few months, was a realization that it is easier to obey God when we are assured of his love. Do you know how precious you are to God?
I was raised in a Christian family, so I don’t have the excuse of not knowing when I am disobeying God. When I feel like God doesn’t care about me, that’s when I fall. That’s when I get depressed. That’s when I choose sins that I think will fix my ache and try to fill the deepest hungers of my heart, whether God approves or not. I feel like God isn’t doing anything to help me, so I take things into my own hands. It usually results in my deepest regrets, the places of my heart and life that I could go the rest of my life without sharing with anyone.
Peace family, if today you find that obedience seems impossible, please, ask yourself if you are convinced that God loves you. If you are carrying long-standing anger towards him or unforgiveness, or you are questioning directives in the Bible that are clearly stated (I am not talking about the normal wrestling with doctrine and faith, but about disagreeing with things that are clearly stated) do you really believe that God loves you? Do you feel like He cares about you? Do you believe that he really has what’s best in mind?
My prayer for you today, is that you would believe and know on a deeper level that you are precious to God. No matter what your experience is, or what you’ve gone through, or what you are going through, please, know that your thoughts are precious to him. Your heart is precious to him. Your mind, soul, and body are precious to him.
If you can’t believe your own value to God, then lean on strong Christians, who can believe in your value for you. Choose to trust that God loves you! When I know that God loves me, really know that God loves me, then the sinful things that gripped me lose their power, and they become repugnant to me, as they are to him. Let us know our value to him, and love him more than our substitutes.
