Peace family, voting is such an important part of what makes our country tick, but it can be so overwhelming!
Voting is today, March 1, and my friend, Jarrod, put together a list of websites that are helping me to feel confident in the voting booth. He says we should be especially careful as we vote for judges this cycle.
It’s so important to be informed and vote wisely, and we don’t need to feel helpless, especially with so much information available at our fingertips.
For a sample ballot for those registered to vote in Brazos county, go here: http://brazosvotes.org/voter/sample. These are the races that you’ll be voting for.
To find where to vote on Tuesday, March 1, Election Day, go here: http://brazosvotes.org/voting-centers
Times for voting are also on that site, at http://brazosvotes.org/
WHO TO VOTE FOR?
Go to freevotersguide.com and put in your info to receive a helpful comparison of all candidates for our area (uncheck the box to opt out of email updates). It ranks them from Liberal to Conservative, and if you click each person’s name, you can get more details about each person.
For a comparison of Republican Presidential candidates, click: http://downloads.frcaction.org/EF/EF16B01.pdf. (The link opens an Adobe spreadsheet.) NOTE: Only TWO of them support the marriage amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. And only one of those two have a chance to win the nomination.
Go to http://txvaluesaction.org/scorecard/ for info about our CURRENT Texas representative John Raney (or Kyle Kacal) and his voting record on some very basic pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage votes.
If you go to this link, you can see bills that were KEY for Christians to support in the recent legislative session: http://txvaluesaction.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/2015-TVA-Scorecard-Bills-Considered.pdf. (The link opens an Adobe spreadsheet.)
(If you’re really into it, you can see specific records on all the votes on this Excel spreadsheet: http://txvaluesaction.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/TV-Action-2015-Scorecard-full-score-details.xlsx. BE SURE TO CLICK THE “HOUSE” TAB AT THE BOTTOM. THE SENATE IS THE DEFAULT SPREADSHEET.)
You can also find ratings on fiscally conservative state legislators and challengers at http://www.empowertexans.com/
Peace family, it’s a starting point for being informed. Let’s keep praying for our country, and not give up hope!
