Peace Family I attended a wedding over the weekend that was just beautiful. The bride wore her mother’s gown. It was my first time to see that and it was so moving. I couldn’t help thinking about how life goes in cycles. You see, it was the wedding of the daughter of my Texas A&M roommate from my freshman year…and her daughter wore her gown. Aggies love their traditions!
My mind went back to when her mother wore it. And now her daughter taking her own vows in the same dress. When they had the father/daughter dance I couldn’t help but think of my friend’s husband. He had danced with a beautiful woman in that same dress 20 something years ago…his wife. Then to see him dance with his daughter in the same dress, well….it brought tears to my eyes. I told him what a special experience he had with that dress, holding both his bride and then his daughter as he danced with her after giving her away in marriage.
It reminded me that we, as the church, are the bride of Christ. All that symbolized came rushing through my head and heart and I felt so grateful and blessed to be a part of the bride of Christ. We are chosen by him. And I am so grateful for the traditions and ceremonies we have to mark these big life moments. To see the happiness on the groom’s face made me realize how Jesus looks upon each of our faces. Such love.
So today, remember that you are a part of the bride of Christ and you are LOVED!
