You Are Favored!

Peace family, as a redeemed child of the King, do you really believe that God has favor on you?

Maybe growing up, there was a favorite child in your home, and it wasn’t you. Maybe you felt like the odd man out at school. Maybe you felt silenced or talked down in your family or at your job. Maybe one or both of your parents didn’t seem to care enough about you to stick around, or raise you in a healthy and encouraging way. Maybe you even struggled spiritually because of these things, feeling like in God’s eyes, you were lumped with Esau or Cain, feeling like God chose others over you and you didn’t know why.

Peace family, as a believer in Christ and a child of God, you are favored! How your parents, siblings, peers, coworkers or society at large value you does NOT matter! No matter how many people reinforce the idea that you are unworthy or lacking in value, their perspectives are not the omniscient, truthful mind of God. You are favored by God! Can you believe it? God loves you with a love that is infinite and beyond our understanding. It is a love that is stronger than death.

Do you feel like you are unworthy of God’s love? Are you wallowing in condemnation that the devil heaps on you, despite the fact that you have given your life to Christ and have been forgiven for your sins? Are you believing that others’ bad treatment of you or your sins and unworthiness are more real and powerful than God’s declarations that He loves you and your sins are removed as far as the east is from the west? Think about that.

If this is a teaching that you struggle to believe, then I encourage you whole-heartedly to embrace it. Take time today to repeat to yourself, “I am a favored child of God!” Memorize Psalm 118:6, “The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?” (ESV) Know it and believe it, Peace family. No matter what anyone else thinks, God favors you. Let that strengthen and encourage you in whatever you do today!
