Peace family, I know a lot of us struggle with ourselves. It seems like everyone has a personal feature that they dislike: maybe it’s skinny legs, or large shoulders, or a big nose. Maybe it’s something else about the way that you were made. Maybe you feel you aren’t enough of something, such as smart enough, graceful enough, or creative enough. Maybe you feel that you are too much of something, such as too emotional, too loud, or too quiet.
Peace family, God made you how he made you, because he wanted someone just like you, who looks like you do, and he is glorified in your existence. I want to challenge you today, to thank God about the thing that you struggle to come to peace with about yourself. Thank him for what you’ve learned, compassion for others you’ve gained, and even the good aspects; maybe your legs are skinny, but they help you to run fast, or your shoulders are large, but they are strong and have carried all kinds of helpful things. Maybe your nose is large, but it draws attention towards your beautiful eyes, or demonstrates your heritage. Your features were designed by and good enough for God! Let’s thank him!
A song that I feel captures this pretty well is Kermit the Frog’s “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” Have a listen, and be encouraged, Peace family. Read Psalm 139, and apply it to yourself. You really are fearfully and wonderfully made, Peace family!
